
Dried Persimmon (곷감) are chewy and sweet. “대봉감” is the type of persimmon used to make dried persimmon. Dried persimmons are flat dense orange-ish disks or cones that have natural white powder on the outside. This white powder is normal and can be eaten. The powder is just the natural sugars from the persimmon. Keep in mind that dried persimmons have seeds inside so watch your teeth.
You can eat dried persimmon alone as a chewy fruit snack, use them to make tea, add them to certain dishes to add chew and sweetness (떡갈비), and or for Korean desserts. Make sure to store your dried persimmon in an airtight container in the freezer.
