Porridge (죽) is a healthy simmered rice dish that is made with rice simmered in broth with other ingredients until thickened. It is a healthy healing food that is enjoyed all the time but especially when someone is not feeling well.
Porridge is made to provide easy-to-digest nutrients that are sourced from healthy ingredients that ideally are in season.
Historically there are over 140 different kinds of porridge. It is incredibly versatile. Back in the day, the Korean king would eat porridge at least once daily.
