The Korean term “회” once referred to something that was mixed with other ingredients, like a type of Bibimbap (비빔밥). Today the term “회” refers mostly to cold raw sliced beef or fish that are served with certain vegetables and sauces.
- 회 (hwe) is the term for raw fish.
- 육회 (yuk-we) is the term that refers to raw beef that is seasoned and mixed with egg yolk and sliced pear.
- 육사시미 (yuk-ssa-simi) is a term that refers to just plain sliced raw beef. (like how you would imagine fish sashimi is served)
