- Pan-fried/Grilled Dumplings (군만두)
- Steamed Dumplings (찐만두)
- Deep Fried Dumplings (튀김만두)
The cooking time varies based on how big the dumpling is but here are the standard cooking times and some tips for each dumpling cooking method.
- Boiled Dumplings (물만두): Boiled dumplings will cook for about 4-5 minutes. You know they are done when they start floating.
- Pan-fried/Grilled Dumplings (군만두): Pan-fried dumplings take about 3 minutes on each side. The first step is to add the dumplings to the hot oiled pan and brown each side, then add some water to the pan and add a lid and steam them slightly until they are cooked all the way. You can also just pan-fry the dumpling for the entire cooking process without adding any water by cooking at a medium temperature so they can get golden and cook completely without burning. The only reason water is added in the first option is because this method ensures even cooking with the benefits of a crunchy brown outside.
- Steamed Dumplings (찐만두): Standard-sized steamed dumplings take about 8-10 minutes to cook. If they are large like 왕만두/평양만두they can take 15-20 minutes to cook. Make sure you line your steamer with a parchment sheet, so the dumplings do not stick.
- Deep Fried Dumplings (튀김만두): Deep-fried dumplings will take about 3-5 minutes at oil heated to 350F.
