
Dried shiitake mushrooms have a savory and umami flavor. It is chewy and plush in texture when rehydrated and has a strong mushroom smell. They can be used for making stocks, added to japchae, soups, or made into a side dish.
It is ideal to store your dried shiitake mushrooms in the freezer or fridge in an airtight container for 3-4 months up to 1 year.
Before using your dried mushrooms, soak them in cold water for 30 min-1 hour. You can add them dried to stocks or soups and let them rehydrate that way as well to utilize all their flavor.
