
Artificial crab meat is made using white fish such as pollock fish mixed with other ingredients like egg and flour. There are different lengths and shapes available based on what you need. It is cheaper than real crab but can still give you that mild sweet crab flavor. It has a tender stringy texture.
It can be used to make pancakes, stuffed into Gimbap (김밥), and or added to different recipes in replacement of crab.
I would recommend buying the refrigerated version of this fake crab, not the frozen version. If you freeze this fake crab and then defrost it, it will break apart and not hold its shape. It will be more stringy so if you want that shredded crab look then buy frozen but if you want the whole intact chunks I would opt for refrigerated.
