How to Make Korean Rice Water (속쌀뜨물)

Instructions

  • Make rice water when you are preparing rice to cook.
  • First put your rice into a bowl and add cold water.
  • Now gently swish the rice around 2-3 times. When you are washing your rice it should not be too rough like you are grabbing the rice, just do it gently, then strain out that water.
  • Do this again for a second time and then dump out the water.
  • On the third wash, you can save the water that you pour off the rice. This batch of water is called Soksaldemul “속쌀뜨물” and can be saved and used for cooking. Store it in the fridge for 3-4 days or in the freezer.
