Red Beans for Rice Cakes

How to cook red beans to use in Korean rice cakes.

Equipment

  • Pot
  • Spoon
  • Strainer

Ingredients

  • Red Beans (팥)
  • Sweetener (당원 뉴슈가)

Instructions

  • Soak the red beans for about 10 hours.
  • The ratio of water to red beans should be 2:1 when added to the pot.
  • Simmer the red beans until they are tender.
  • Once tender, drain the beans from the water but do NOT rinse them in cold water.
  • Add them to a pot and lightly stir fry them without oil to remove more of the water from the beans.
  • You can then season them with sugar (당원 뉴슈가)
